Creamy Ham Sauce with Noodles and Peas

No need for heavy cream to make a creamy sauce. The rich milk sauce in this recipe has chunky ham and a hint of nutmeg that makes this an easy, delicious dish!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Pennsylvania Dutch Fine Egg Noodles
  • 2 tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup frozen peas
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Cook noodles according to package directions.
  2. Melt margarine in medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add ham; cook, stirring, 1 minute. Stir in milk, cornstarch, salt, pepper and nutmeg; add peas. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil; boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in Parmesan cheese.
  3. Toss with noodles. If desired, serve with additional Parmesan cheese.
